“Budding poets at The Abbey Junior School really embraced the 'Pound a Poem' competition this year, with over one hundred and eighty entries. The 'Fruit and Vegetables' theme seemed to inspire them and our teachers had a wonderful time selecting poems to be sent to the competition for judging.
We were all thrilled to discover that one of our girls had won first prize and we are very proud of her. We are also very pleased to have played a part in raising money for the children’s charity, 'Rays of Sunshine', which helps turn the wishes of seriously ill children into a reality. I would urge any school which has not yet participated in the 'Pound a Poem' event to get involved next time.’
Headteacher, Mrs Carol Ryninks
